Are you Mr Suddhajit Sen?
Mr Suddhajit Sen is a highly qualified Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hand, wrist, and upper limb conditions. With extensive clinical training in reconstructive hand surgery, peripheral nerve care, and complex musculoskeletal trauma, he provides comprehensive diagnostic and surgical care for patients experiencing bone, joint, tendon, and ligament disorders. His patient-centred approach focuses on restoring function, relieving pain, and assisting individuals in returning to their daily activities safely and effectively.
In his clinical practice, Mr Sen focuses on a broad spectrum of upper limb conditions, ranging from routine hand and wrist disorders to complex traumatic injuries and surgical complications. His core areas of clinical interest include scaphoid fractures and instability, scapholunate ligament injuries, carpal instability, nerve compressions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendon pathology. He utilises advanced diagnostic techniques, including ultrasound-guided procedures and keyhole wrist arthroscopy, to deliver tailored surgical and non-surgical interventions. Additionally, Mr Sen maintains a strong interest in joint preservation, post-traumatic reconstruction, and the management of sports-related injuries affecting the hand and wrist.
Mr Sen completed his primary medical degree (MBBS) in 2000 and obtained his Diploma in Orthopaedics (D-Orth) in 2004 from Calcutta University. He subsequently achieved Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2005 and earned a Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics (MCh Orth) from the University of Dundee in 2008. He completed his higher orthopaedic surgical training, earning Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCS (Tr & Orth)) in 2014. To further refine his expertise, he undertook advanced subspecialist fellowships in hand, wrist, and paediatric orthopaedics at leading specialist surgical centres. He was awarded a PostGraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Edge Hill University in 2020, elected a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (FFST) of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2021, and awarded the Diploma of the European Board of Hand Surgery (Dip EBHS) in 2024. He maintains active professional involvement with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the British Orthopaedic Association.
Beyond his surgical practice, Mr Sen is dedicated to medical education, clinical governance, and research. Serving as an Associate Director of Medical Education and an Honorary Senior Lecturer, he contributes actively to postgraduate surgical training and the development of national examination standards. He routinely contributes to scientific research and peer-reviewed medical publications focused on hand ultrasound applications and upper limb surgical techniques. Combining clinical precision with a reassuring bedside manner, Mr Sen ensures that each patient receives clear guidance, evidence-based recommendations, and an individualised care plan throughout their treatment journey.
