Dr Stephen Price

Dr Stephen Price is a highly accomplished Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in neurosurgical oncology and the clinical management of complex brain tumours. With a strong commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, he strives to achieve the best possible surgical outcomes while preserving essential neurological functions. His practice focuses on the surgical treatment of malignant brain tumours, particularly gliomas and glioblastomas, utilising cutting-edge operative techniques to personalise care for every individual.

In his surgical practice, Dr Price incorporates advanced intraoperative technologies and precision planning to safely maximise tumour removal. He introduced fluorescence-guided surgery using 5-ALA into British neurosurgical practice to improve the visual definition and resection of high-grade brain tumours. Additionally, he routinely performs awake craniotomies using real-time brain mapping and intraoperative neurophysiology to protect critical functions, such as speech and movement, during surgery. By applying sophisticated tractography and specialised magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) planning, he ensures that surgical interventions are tailored to the precise anatomy of each patient.

Dr Price graduated with his medical degree (MBBS) from St Bartholomew's Medical College in 1994, alongside completing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. He undertook extensive basic surgical and higher neurosurgical training across prominent medical centres before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and completing a PhD in Neurosurgery in 2007.
