Dr. Sofia Ahmed

Dr. Sofia Ahmed is a highly accomplished Consultant Orthodontist with a wealth of experience and expertise in her field. She graduated with a 1st Class Honours intercalated BSc and BDS with Distinction in Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry from King's College Dental Hospital, London. Following her initial training, she undertook House Officer and Senior House Officer posts in Oral Surgery and Paediatric Dentistry before specialising in Orthodontics at King's College Dental Hospital and St George’s Hospital, London.

Upon completing her specialist orthodontic training, Dr. Ahmed earned an MSc in Orthodontics with Distinction and the MOrth from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She then advanced to higher orthodontic training at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.

Dr. Ahmed began her career as a Consultant Orthodontist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and she currently holds Consultant positions at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, and Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. She is also actively involved in dental education and co-authored the orthodontic text "Clinical Cases in Orthodontics," published by Wiley-Blackwell. In addition to her teaching, she has examined for the MJDF for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the MSc in Orthodontics at King’s College London.

Dr. Ahmed's clinical expertise spans the full range of orthodontic treatments for both children and adults, including functional appliances, conventional fixed appliances (metal or clear), lingual appliances (hidden behind the teeth), and Invisalign aligners. She collaborates closely with dental, maxillofacial, and respiratory physicians and is part of multidisciplinary teams for hypodontia (missing teeth) and orthognathic (jaw surgery) treatments. She also provides mandibular advancement splints for patients with sleep apnoea.
