Dr Sindu Vivekanandan

Dr Sindu Vivekanandan is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the comprehensive care and management of urological malignancies, with a primary clinical focus on prostate cancer. Working closely within multi-disciplinary teams, she provides patient-centred care that integrates diagnostic evaluation with tailored treatment planning. Her compassionate approach ensures that patients and their families feel supported, reassured, and fully informed throughout every stage of cancer care.

Dr Vivekanandan completed her initial medical education at King's College London, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours in Physiology with Basic Medical Sciences in 2001, followed by her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2004. She attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2008 and completed her higher specialist clinical oncology training across Cambridge and the East of England. In 2013, she completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Oncology with distinction at the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in 2014. She subsequently earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in normal tissue radiation toxicity modelling from the University of Oxford in 2018. She is also a member of the Royal College of Radiologists Clinical Oncology Quality Improvement and Audit Committee.

Her clinical interests encompass systemic anti-cancer therapies, advanced radiation therapy, and normal tissue radiation toxicity modelling to minimise side effects and optimise patient outcomes. Alongside her direct clinical work, Dr Vivekanandan is deeply involved in medical education and quality improvement initiatives. She holds academic roles including Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, Educational Supervisor, Clinical Tutor, and Quality Improvement Project Supervisor, contributing significantly to the training of medical students and junior clinical oncology trainees.
