Dr Simon Hurst

Dr Simon Hurst is a highly accomplished Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in shoulder and elbow surgery as well as major traumatic injuries. Dedicated to restoring mobility and alleviating joint pain, he provides comprehensive diagnostic and surgical care tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Dr Hurst focuses on delivering evidence-based treatment plans that support long-term recovery and optimal joint function.

In his clinical practice, Dr Hurst manages a broad spectrum of complex upper limb conditions and orthopaedic trauma. His areas of expertise include complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction, joint replacement procedures, and acute trauma management. He maintains a keen interest in advancing surgical techniques through emerging technologies, incorporating innovations such as robotics, mixed-reality applications, and wearable monitoring devices to optimise patient outcomes and streamline rehabilitation.

Dr Hurst completed his undergraduate medical studies and postgraduate orthopaedic training in London at Imperial College, followed by advanced fellowship training and consultant-level practice in France. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, a Doctorate in Medicine by Research, a Diploma of Imperial College, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics. In addition to his clinical commitments, he contributes to medical education as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, an FRCS examination question setter for The Royal College of Surgeons, and a postgraduate university faculty member.
