About Mr Antony Palmer

Mr Antony Palmer is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an NHS practice based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in both primary and revision hip replacement surgery.
Mr Palmer graduated from the University of Oxford Medical School in 2006 and completed an National Institute for Health and Care Research-integrated academic training programme. During this time, he undertook a DPhil (PhD) focusing on the development of hip osteoarthritis in both the general population and elite athletes.
Following completion of his clinical training, he worked as a Locum Consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where he gained advanced expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques, robotic-assisted procedures, and the use of custom-made implants, before returning to Oxford.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Palmer is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. His research interests include perioperative care and the prevention and management of joint infection, with the goal of improving surgical outcomes and patient recovery.

During my initial consultation with Dr Palmer he put me totally at ease, carefully explaining my condition and treatment options, which I found extremely helpful. Having initially decided that initially a course of physiotherapy would be beneficial, my condition slightly deteriorated and after a further discussion he performed a total hip replacement within two weeks. Dr Palmer put me totally at ease throughout the entire process, visiting me twice after the operation prior to my discharge. He also telephoned my husband after the surgery to update him regarding my condition, which was greatly appreciated. I have just had my final consultation with Dr Palmer who told me I can contact him at any time in the future if I have any concerns or issues. I could not be happier with the outcome or the care I received from Dr Palmer, which was first class from start to finish.

I was very anxious as to the procedure and visit to Hospital. Needless to say my fear and worries at the hand of surgery, Mr Anthony Palmer and team were understanding, comforting and first class. Throughout my stay the Nurses, cleaners, and catering staff were courteous respectful and welcoming. Not to forget the Admin staff who kept in constant contact with me prior and post op excellent!
