Dr Sergio Coda is a Consultant General Surgeon and Specialist Gastrointestinal Endoscopist with expertise spanning academic, secondary, and community healthcare. Dedicated to delivering patient-focused care, Dr Coda focuses on the early detection, precise diagnosis, and minimally invasive management of digestive system disorders. His clinical approach combines state-of-the-art endoscopic advancements with a compassionate, reassuring manner that helps put patients at ease throughout every stage of assessment and treatment.

His clinical interests encompass both upper and lower gastrointestinal care alongside advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr Coda specialises in the early detection and endoscopic resection of pre-neoplastic lesions and early cancers throughout the digestive tract. He is a passionate advocate of innovative, minimally invasive techniques, including transnasal endoscopy, endoscopic mucosal resection, Speedboat Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection, Full Thickness Endoscopic Resection, PuraStat application for radiation proctopathy, and robotic colonoscopy. His surgical scope also covers broad general surgical conditions such as hernia repair, gallbladder pathology, abdominal wall conditions, and bowel health.

Dr Coda completed his medical education and initial specialist surgical training at Sapienza University of Rome, maintaining an exclusive focus on interventional endoscopy. He subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in endoscopic submucosal dissection at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo. Continuing his research and clinical development, he earned a PhD in Advanced Endoscopic Imaging from Imperial College London. Dr Coda is an accredited colonoscopist under the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and holds active roles as an Optical Diagnosis Champion and Regional Advisor within professional endoscopy networks.
