Dr Sean Zhou

Mr Sean Zhou is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract and vitreoretinal (VR) surgery. A graduate of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, he completed his specialist ophthalmic training in the East of England before undertaking advanced vitreoretinal fellowship training at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the internationally renowned Bristol Eye Hospital. During his time with Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, he further developed his expertise in complex retinal surgery and also served as a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon.

His clinical practice is focused on modern, evidence-based surgical management of complex eye conditions. He has particular experience in managing complications following cataract surgery and providing tailored intraocular lens solutions for patients with specific or complex visual requirements. His vitreoretinal practice covers a wide range of retinal conditions, including retinal detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, vitreous floaters, ocular trauma and complex diabetic eye disease, using appropriate surgical techniques to help preserve and restore vision.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Zhou has a strong interest in digital innovation, medical education and the development of healthcare technology. He is an alumnus of the Cambridge Judge Business School accelerator programme, reflecting his involvement in digital innovation within healthcare. He also contributes to ophthalmic research as an investigator on multicentre clinical trials, supporting the evaluation of new approaches to eye care and treatment.
