Dr Sarah Tansley

Dr Sarah Tansley is a Consultant Rheumatologist who provides expert care for patients living with complex rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions. Dedicated to delivering thoughtful, patient-centred care, she works closely with individuals to formulate comprehensive assessment and management plans. Her clinical approach combines evidence-based treatments with individualised support to optimise quality of life and long-term joint and immune health.

Her primary clinical focus lies within autoimmune connective tissue diseases, including myositis, systemic sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, and Sjögren's syndrome. Dr Tansley also helps run specialised transition clinics designed to support young patients moving from paediatric to adult rheumatology services, ensuring continuous and cohesive care. In addition, her practice incorporates advanced autoantibody profiling and diagnostic evaluations to guide targeted therapies for complex autoimmune conditions.

Dr Tansley completed her undergraduate medical degree and a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Edinburgh. Following clinical posts in Scotland and New Zealand, she completed higher specialist Rheumatology training alongside a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). An active academic researcher and Senior Clinical Lecturer, she maintains professional memberships with the British Society for Rheumatology, the International Myositis Assessment and Clinical Studies Group, and the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology autoantibody study group.
