Dr Sarah McCartney

Dr Sarah McCartney is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in paediatric orthopaedics and orthopaedic trauma. Dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care, she focuses on diagnosing and managing complex musculoskeletal conditions in children and young adults. Her clinical practice encompasses both surgical and non-surgical interventions designed to improve mobility, correct physical deformities, and enhance long-term quality of life for her patients.

Dr McCartney completed her medical education at Cambridge University and Oxford University, receiving a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr McCartney completed her higher orthopaedic surgical training across Wessex, followed by an advanced sub-speciality fellowship in paediatric orthopaedics. Alongside her clinical duties, she serves as a College Lecturer in Medicine, actively contributing to surgical education and ongoing research in musculoskeletal healthcare.

In her day-to-day practice, Dr McCartney manages a wide variety of paediatric and trauma orthopaedic conditions. Her clinical focus includes developmental dysplasia of the hip, hip preservation, clubfoot, limb deformities, and complex neuromuscular conditions requiring multilevel surgery and joint reconstruction. She collaborates closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams and utilises advanced gait laboratory analysis to deliver precise, tailored treatment plans for every patient.
