Dr Sara Mazzucco

Dr Sara Mazzucco is an accomplished Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Academic who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing complex neurological conditions. With a dual focus on clinical practice and advanced academic research, she specialises in evaluating and managing disorders affecting the brain and central nervous system. Dr Mazzucco is committed to delivering thorough, empathetic, and evidence-informed treatment tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

Her main areas of clinical expertise include cerebrovascular diseases, stroke, transient ischaemic attack (TIA), and neurodegenerative conditions such as motor neurone disease (MND) and dementia. Dr Mazzucco possesses specialist interest in cerebral haemodynamics and neurosonology, utilising non-invasive ultrasound techniques to assess cerebral blood flow and vascular risk factors. In addition, her clinical work encompasses the management of cryptogenic stroke, small vessel disease, cognitive impairment, and targeted symptom control, including evidence-based management for swallowing and choking difficulties in patients living with MND.

Dr Mazzucco qualified in medicine with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with highest distinction from the University of Verona Medical School in 1997. She subsequently completed structured postgraduate specialist training to achieve Board Certification in Neurology in 2001, followed by a Doctorate (PhD) in Neurological Sciences in 2006. Throughout her career, she has held prestigious clinical research fellowships in leading international neurological centres, publishing extensively on cerebrovascular health, stroke prevention, and neurosonology.
