Dr Santosh Baliga

Dr Santosh Baliga is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in spinal surgery and adult trauma. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals experiencing complex musculoskeletal issues. His clinical practice is particularly focused on the elective management of adult cervical and lumbar degenerative conditions, helping patients regain mobility and improve their overall quality of life.

Dr Baliga obtained his primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), from the University of Aberdeen. Following his graduation, he completed both his basic and higher surgical training in the North of Scotland. To further refine his expertise, he undertook specialist fellowship training in major trauma and spinal surgery at a major trauma centre in Stoke-on-Trent. He subsequently advanced his skills at a world-renowned centre for spinal studies and surgery in Nottingham, serving first as a Senior National Spine Fellow and later as an Associate Consultant.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Baliga is deeply committed to medical education and research. He serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, where he is actively involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate medical students. His research interests focus on degenerative lumbar conditions and adult trauma, contributing to advancements in the field of orthopaedic surgery. He is also an active member of several professional bodies, reflecting his dedication to maintaining the highest standards of surgical practice.
