Dr. Sanjay Rao

Dr. Sanjay Rao is a highly experienced and dedicated consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, with a career spanning over two decades. He has developed particular expertise in managing bipolar disorders, ADHD, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, OCD, psychosis, and personality difficulties. Dr. Rao's extensive experience and deep understanding of mental health conditions enable him to provide effective and compassionate care for his patients.

Currently serving as a Consultant Psychiatrist with the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT), Dr. Rao provides psychiatric care to patients in inner-city Leicester. He has also taken on significant leadership roles, including as Training Program Director for Higher Trainees and as a medical advisor to the Ombudsman.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Rao has a postgraduate diploma in mental law, which has equipped him with the knowledge to offer valuable insights in medico-legal matters related to mental health. His ability to integrate his legal expertise with his psychiatric practice allows him to provide comprehensive care and support for his patients and colleagues.

Dr. Rao is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Medical Protection Society, and his special interests include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, adult ADHD, personality disorders, OCD, psychosis, and schizophrenia.
