Professor Sam Mohiddin is a Consultant Cardiologist based at Barts Heart Centre. He also sees private patients at The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Centre on Harley Street and The London Independent Hospital. Professor Mohiddin is also an Honorary Professor of Cardiology at Queen Mary University of London.
Professor Mohiddin completed his medical degree with an intercalated bachelor's degree at the University of Edinburgh in 1994. He later completed his training in Edinburgh, the United States at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and in London, giving his broad training and experience nationally and internationally under excellent mentorship. He was awarded his Membership with the Royal College of Physicians in 1996 and was awarded a MD for his research work by the University of Edinburgh in 2010.
He has clinical and research interests in inherited and acquired heart muscle diseases including inflammatory myopathies and obstructive hypertrophic myopathies. He also has expertise in the use of cardiac MRI for the assessment of various heart conditions, as well as alcohol septal ablation for obstructive hypertrophic myopathies. At The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Centre, Dr Mohiddin runs the clinic for inflammatory and inherited heart muscle conditions and supports the sports screening team.
