Dr Ruth Blair

Dr Ruth Blair is a highly regarded Consultant Dermatologist who specialises in all aspects of adult Dermatology. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she provides comprehensive care for a wide range of inflammatory skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and hidradenitis. Dr Blair is dedicated to delivering personalised treatment plans that address both the medical and emotional impact of skin conditions, helping her patients achieve healthier skin and improved confidence.

In addition to managing general dermatological concerns, Dr Blair has a particular clinical interest in the diagnosis and management of both benign and malignant skin lesions. She is highly skilled in skin cancer surgery, performing precise procedures such as cyst removal, skin flaps, and skin grafts. Her expertise in this field is widely recognised; she has served as the Lead for Skin Cancer in Clyde, where she ran weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, and remains an active member of the West of Scotland regional Skin Cancer multidisciplinary team. She has also contributed to the development of Scottish guidelines for cutaneous sarcoma.

Dr Blair qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). Her career includes valuable experience as a Specialty Doctor in Glasgow, followed by her appointment as a Consultant Dermatologist in Paisley. Committed to advancing her field, she is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, providing surgical training and educational supervision to future Dermatology Trainees. Dr Blair is also a published researcher in peer-reviewed publications, including Clinical and Experimental Dermatology and the British Journal of Dermatology, and has co-authored a book chapter on adherence challenges in Dermatology. She is a member of several prestigious professional organisations, including the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society of Dermatological Surgeons, the Scottish Dermatological Society, and Melanoma Focus.
