Dr Michael Edward Farrugia

Having spent many years trying to find the cause of several red/scaly spots on my lower legs I met with Dr Farrugia to discuss my condition. He immediately diagnosed DSAP and a treatment plan was immediately set in motion. I didn’t expect immediate results but finally, albeit slowly, I could see positive changes on the lesions of which some are completely cleared. I’m grateful to Dr Farrugia for his help and continued support.

I have been struggling with painful eczema for 9 months with my life completely on hold. Dr Farrugia listened to my concerns, had read through all of my history and was able to reasure me with a plan to give me some relief over the next few months then discussed the next steps after this. He explained everything in detail about the types of medication choices, the risks and reassured me. He arranged thorough tests before the medication and then follow up bloods and visits. Everything was covered and when I left the appointment it is the first time I have felt positive in 9 months. I started the medication on Monday and already my skin is showing improvements.

I have been referred to the dermatology department numerous times over the past 10 or so years and have always walked away feeling like I haven’t had any input into the treatment plan. This was my first appointment with Dr Farrugia. From the start, Dr Farrugia wanted to hear in my own words my medical history and well as insights into how the skin condition was affecting my life. He listened and sympathised and from that he created an action plan for treatment with my input. He gave me space to express any concerns I had and he either amended the plan or settled those concerns by giving his insight. Dr Farrugia also explored his hopes for positive non-medical outcomes of the treatment plan such as me becoming more confident in life activities such as going to the gym and social events - two things I have hid myself away from for several years due to the worsening state of my skin. By the end of the appointment with Dr Farrugia, i felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders - I knew I was in the hands of someone that truly cares and that I was, for the first time ever, working together with my doctor.

First appointment after being referred back to Dermatology. Potential helpful solutions discussed but with a caveat that it may take a number of tries to find a fix. Doctor explained fully and honestly which i appreciated.
