Mr Rui Zhou

Mr Rui Zhou is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hand surgery. He currently works at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust, where he was appointed as a consultant in September 2025. His practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, with particular expertise in hand and upper limb surgery.

Mr Zhou completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Manchester, graduating with an MBChB in Medicine in 2010. Prior to this, he studied Medical Science at the University of St Andrews, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. He later completed a Master of Science in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the University of Edinburgh between 2017 and 2020, further strengthening his specialist knowledge in orthopaedic surgery.

Following his foundation training with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Mr Zhou developed extensive experience across several orthopaedic and surgical roles. He worked as a Trauma and Orthopaedic SHO at Macclesfield District General Hospital and later as a Plastic Surgery SHO at Wythenshawe Hospital. He then progressed to a Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar position at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Zhou completed his higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics from the Cambridge orthopaedic rotation between 2017 and 2024. During this time he gained broad experience managing complex trauma and orthopaedic conditions. He subsequently undertook a Senior Hand Fellowship at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust at the Queen’s Medical Centre, where he further developed advanced skills in hand and upper limb surgery.
