Dr Ruchika Batra

Dr Ruchika Batra is a highly respected Consultant Ophthalmologist who specialises in neuro-ophthalmology and medical ophthalmology. Based in Birmingham, she is dedicated to providing reassuring, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing complex visual symptoms. Dr Batra believes in a holistic approach to ophthalmic health, integrating lifestyle medicine with advanced clinical treatments to support her patients' overall well-being.

With a clinical focus on the intersection of neurology and vision, Dr Batra possesses expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of conditions. Her areas of clinical interest include afferent and efferent neuro-ophthalmic disorders, optic neuropathies, optic disc swelling, and idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Working as part of multidisciplinary skull base and pituitary teams, she collaborates with other specialists to deliver comprehensive care. She also manages ocular surface diseases and glaucoma, ensuring patients receive tailored treatment plans for their specific needs.

Dr Batra completed her medical degree, earning her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). She serves as the Training Programme Director for Medical Ophthalmology and as a College Tutor, helping to shape the next generation of eye specialists.
