Mr Ronnie Davies is an experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon who works at Manchester Foundation Trust and Circle Highfield Hospital. He specialises in shoulder & elbow surgery and strives to provide the best possible care for his patients.
He studied at Cambridge University medical school and, after a few years around the area as a junior doctor, moved back to Manchester where he completed his specialist training in trauma & orthopaedic surgery. He subsequently undertook higher fellowship training in shoulder & elbow surgery at the renowned Robert Jones Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, before commencing work as a consultant in Manchester.
Mr Davies is confident in his ability to treat many shoulder problems without surgery. He takes care to explain the cause of patients' issues and their treatment options in clear, understandable language. Mr Davies genuinely enjoys the variety of people he meets and gets a great deal of satisfaction from being able to help them.
Most of his NHS work is at Wythenshawe Hospital, where he treats all types of common injuries, including complex injuries around the shoulder and elbow. This is where he holds his outpatient clinics. He also performs surgery at Trafford Hospital's purpose-built Orthopaedic Centre.
Mr Davies treats a wide range of conditions, including rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder and shoulder arthritis. He is particularly interested in using technology to improve the accuracy of surgery, including 3D printing and surgical navigation in shoulder replacements. He runs some innovative services, including a one-stop clinic for shoulder problems, which allows X-rays, scans, injections and other treatments all to be provided in a single visit.
His main passion outside clinical medicine is teaching and training. He is the Education Lead for the North West orthopaedic teaching programme, organising regular teaching for a group of 60 trainee surgeons.

Mr Davies and his staff presented a very pleasant environment and atmosphere. I felt comfortable and was kept informed every step of the way.
Had my first visit with Mr Davies today. Found him a most charming and informative chap. We discussed my condition thoroughly and I felt that Mr Davies showed a keen interest in trying to résolve the problems I am experiencing. I left the appointment feeling a lot happer and certainly more positive towards the progression of my disease. Can recommend, without réservé, Mr Davies for elbow and shoulder concerns. With many thanks. Vicki G.
I can't recommend Mr Davies enough for the care and treatment he has provided. His procedure when repairing rotator cuff damage enabled me to have a virtually pain free recovery while also quickly gaining motion and use of my shoulder. My follow up appointment and discussion about my recovery has left me in know doubt I made the right decision to have the surgery done.
I’ve had pain in my right shoulder for a few years. Today I had a consultation with Mr Davies, then an X-ray, and then an injection and diagnosis. All within an hour. Absolutely excellent!!
I went to see Mr Davies about my frozen shoulder, requesting an injection to improve my range of movement. I didn't feel any pain or discomfort and it took less than 20 minutes in total. Very efficient.
Very professional, I liked how he showed me the scans and explained the procedure that he carried out
Prompt appointment, and professional approach. Felt very relaxed , clear explanation of treatment plan and follow up.
