Mr Rizwan Shahid

Mr Rizwan Shahid is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, with particular expertise in joint replacement, enhanced recovery pathways, hip fracture management, knee arthroscopy, meniscal repair, and the treatment of osteoarthritis. He privately practises at The Lincoln Hospital and his NHS base is United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust at Lincoln County Hospital.

Mr Shahid has developed extensive expertise in managing complex hip and knee conditions using modern surgical techniques and patient-focused rehabilitation approaches, including enhanced recovery programmes designed to support faster recovery following surgery. He is highly qualified, holding Membership and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellowship of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. 

He completed higher specialist training with a focus on trauma and lower limb surgery at leading orthopaedic centres including Wrightington, Merseyside, York, and Lincoln. His specialist training included a lower limb arthroscopy fellowship at the Sir John Charnley Centre in 2015 and a knee fellowship at York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2016.

Mr Shahid is actively involved in teaching, research, and professional development. He regularly lectures nationally and internationally on hip and knee surgery and contributes to medical education through teaching students at University of Nottingham and University of Lincoln.

His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet, and he is a member of leading professional organisations including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Hip Society, and the British Trauma Society.
