Mr Ravikrishna Mamidanna

Mr. Ravikrishna Mamidanna is a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, with a particular focus on Obesity and Metabolic Surgery. He practises at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and privately at Circle Health Group, Blackheath Hospital.

After completing his medical degree, Mr. Mamidanna underwent both basic and higher surgical training in the United Kingdom. He further honed his expertise with a specialist fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery from Luton, a prominent centre for such procedures in the UK.

Mr. Mamidanna is skilled in advanced laparoscopic surgery and performs a wide range of keyhole operations. His expertise covers surgeries for appendicitis, gallstone disease (cholecystectomy), and various types of hernias. He offers both open and laparoscopic repairs for different hernias, including umbilical, epigastric, ventral, incisional, and groin hernias. Additionally, he specialises in keyhole surgeries for hiatus hernia and acid reflux (fundoplication).

His focus on metabolic syndrome involves addressing health issues associated with being overweight, such as diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, and high cholesterol/triglycerides. As a leader of the Bariatric Multi-disciplinary Team at University Hospital Lewisham, he performs keyhole weight-loss surgeries such as sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, one anastomosis gastric bypass, and revisional procedures.

Mr. Mamidanna completed his higher surgical training in South-east London and Kent, training under renowned surgeons in various hospitals. He obtained the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 2019 and pursued further training through the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. He now serves as a Consultant Surgeon at University Hospital Lewisham.
