Dr. Raman Thakur is an Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon currently working at Benenden Hospital as well as holding a substantive post as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Trauma and Orthopaedics at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.
Trained in India, he moved to the Uk in 1993 to receive specialist training in orthopaedics and trauma in the Guys and St Thomas' Rotation, which included placements in various hospitals throughout the UK. He also completed a fellowship programme at the Lennox Hill Hospital in New York, USA, learning specialist techniques in adult reconstructive surgeries.

Mr Thakur qualified from Osmania University in 1985 and underwent further orthopaedic training in India, graduating with a Masters in Orthopaedics in 1990.

Follow up appointment was very disappointing in that Mr. Thakur barely acknowledged my questions regarding recovery, one word answers, no helpful information. Sorry but that was my feeling
Mr Thakur asked what I was expecting then explained why Benenden didn’t have the ICU facilities that I would need for a knee replacement. He offered and I accepted an alternative injection of gel that he thought would help with my pain. Whilst initially it worked it was short lived and I am now reliant upon the NHS for further treatment.
It was good to have a follow-up visit from Mr Thakur, although I felt he just wanted to hear I was OK after surgery rather than enter into any further conversation
Had a follow up appointment following total knee replacement surgery . I didnt havr to wait more than 5 minutes to see my consultant. Told me all i needed to know about my knee op and progress i was making. No rush to get me seen and out of the appointment. A good experience.
