Dr Raj Shrimali

Dr Raj Shrimali is a dedicated Consultant Clinical Oncologist who specialises in the non-surgical management of lung and thoracic cancers. Committed to delivering compassionate and patient-centred care, he focuses on utilising state-of-the-art radiation therapies to achieve optimal clinical outcomes while minimising treatment-related side effects. His practice encompasses a comprehensive approach to managing both radical and palliative cancer cases, ensuring each individual receives a tailored treatment plan designed to maintain high therapeutic efficacy and enhance quality of life.

Dr Shrimali possesses extensive clinical expertise in advanced radiotherapy technologies designed to deliver targeted treatment with exceptional precision. His clinical interests include Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) based Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), and Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR). He routinely employs four-dimensional imaging (4DCT) for accurate target definition and is actively engaged in evaluating hypofractionated radiotherapy schedules, which safely increase the radiation dose per session to reduce the overall number of hospital visits required by patients.

Dr Shrimali completed his undergraduate medical studies, earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. He completed his higher specialist training in Clinical Oncology in 2010 and subsequently undertook postgraduate research fellowships specialising in thoracic malignancies. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic oncology, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by the University of Warwick. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR in Clinical Oncology) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP Edinburgh).

In addition to his direct clinical practice, Dr Shrimali serves as a Chief Investigator leading clinical trials and oncology research projects. His research interests focus on radiation radiobiology, treatment toxicity, and the clinical implementation of innovative radiotherapy techniques. Through ongoing clinical innovation and evidence-based practice, Dr Shrimali strives to advance the standard of care for patients undergoing treatment for thoracic malignancies.
