Mr Rahul S Kotwal

Mr Rahul Kotwal is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Knee surgery.  He offers tailored treatments to patients with a focus on both the surgical and non-surgical management of a wide range of knee conditions.

He has been a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2016 and specialises in total and partial knee replacements and sports related soft tissue knee injuries such as ACL and meniscus tears. He also offers Robotic arm assisted knee replacement surgery at his private practices at Spire Cardiff Hospital and Nuffield Health Vale Hospital. He received the BAPIO best innovation award in 2018 for developing and performing the first day case knee replacement in South Wales and has a keen interest in enhanced recovery following knee surgery. He has performed over 100 knee replacements last year and has a very low revision rate, lower than the UK national average as per the National Joint Registry.

Mr Rahul Kotwal is an Honorary Clinical Teacher at Cardiff University. He is involved in training orthopaedic junior doctors and in medical student teaching. He strives towards improving patient care and outcomes. He has a keen research interest and present his work at various national and international specialist knee meetings.
