Dr. Rahat Maitland

Dr Rahat Maitland is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology with extensive expertise in complex metabolic and hormonal conditions. She graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Science with Honours (BScMedSci Hons). She earned her postgraduate research degree, Doctor of Medicine by Research (MD Res), and holds Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK). She completed her specialist registrar training across leading tertiary academic medical centres in London, including Guy's and St Thomas' and King's College Hospitals.

Her clinical practice encompasses the management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, focusing on optimising glucose control and cardiovascular risk reduction, including high blood pressure, cholesterol management, and obesity. She specialises in endocrine disorders involving the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, parathyroid, and calcium glands. Additionally, she runs dedicated diabetes pre-pregnancy and medical antenatal clinics, providing pre-pregnancy counselling and preparation for women with diabetes.

Dr Maitland serves as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow Undergraduate Medical School, contributing to undergraduate education and postgraduate training programmes.
