Dr Rachel Kerr

Dr Rachel Kerr is a highly distinguished Medical Oncologist who specialises in gastrointestinal cancers, with a primary clinical focus on colorectal cancer. Working within multidisciplinary care teams, she provides compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the individual needs of every patient. Dr Kerr combines clinical expertise with advanced therapeutic approaches to ensure patients receive thorough guidance, reassurance, and support throughout their diagnosis and treatment journey.

Dr Kerr completed her medical studies at the University of Birmingham, qualifying in 1994 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), alongside a First Class Honours intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physiology. Following general medical training, she was awarded a competitive Medical Research Council fellowship to complete a PhD in Cancer Studies. Dr Kerr is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and has held prestigious national clinical research fellowships dedicated to advancing cancer care.

Her clinical practice encompasses the comprehensive management of gastrointestinal malignancies, with special expertise in adjuvant chemotherapy, cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic drug regimens, and targeted biological therapies. Serving as a Clinical Director and Associate Professor of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Dr Kerr actively leads major clinical trials and translational research focused on genetic biomarker profiling. This work helps predict individual treatment responses, optimise drug dosing, and minimise potential toxicity for patients.
