Dr Pui Ying Chan

Dr Pui Ying Chan is a highly dedicated Medical Oncologist and Clinical Research Fellow who specialises in the treatment and study of complex cancers. With a particular clinical focus on rare and aggressive malignancies, she is deeply committed to advancing patient care through precision medicine. Dr Chan works closely with patients to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care, ensuring that individuals facing challenging diagnoses receive the most advanced and tailored treatment strategies available.

Her clinical and research interests lie at the forefront of oncology, particularly in the management of uveal melanoma and other melanoma subtypes. Dr Chan has been actively involved in pioneering research exploring cancer genomics, somatic genomics, and synthetic lethal drug combinations to identify novel therapeutic targets. Her work includes investigating innovative treatment combinations, such as pegargiminase and melphalan, as well as utilising advanced techniques like the detection of circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) to monitor disease progression and improve patient outcomes.

Dr Chan completed her primary medical education at University College London, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) alongside a First Class Bachelor of Science with Honours in Medical Sciences with Physiology. She subsequently undertook an Academic Clinical Fellowship in Medical Oncology and went on to complete a PhD supported by a prestigious Wellcome Trust Fellowship. Dr Chan holds a Speciality Certificate in Medical Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians. She is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Association of Cancer Physicians, and has been recognised with numerous accolades, such as the McElwain Prize for her translational research.
