Mr John Hines

Mr. John Hines is a consultant urological surgeon based at the Cleveland Clinic in London, where he specialises in the following areas:

• Bladder cancer surgery
• Holmium Laser Treatment
• Prostate cancer surgery
• Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP)
• Ureteroscopy (URS)

He has clinical interests in benign prostatic enlargement/hyperplasia, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, and sarcoma.

He gained his medical degree in 1985 from the University of Liverpool before undertaking training in surgery and urology. He was then appointed at Whipps Cross University Hospital as a consultant urologist before joining St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 2009 and University College London Hospital in 2010. He has worked solely in urology at the University College London Hospital since 2019.

He also has a practice in open radical surgery and performs gynaecological pelvic exenteration surgery. Additionally, he leads the neurology pelvic cancer specialist MDT in North Central London.

Mr. Hines is involved in research, and his interests are in medical education and novel drug delivery systems to the bladder. He has previously held the posts of RCS Surgical Tutor at Whipps Cross Hospital, Associate Director of Medical Education at Whipps Cross, and Member of the Court of Examiners Executive, RCS.
