Professor Santis is a highly respected and experienced Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. He has dedicated his career to helping patients with lung problems, including thoise with lung cancer. Some of the procedures and treatments he offers include Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound, Interventional Bronchoscopy, Lung Biopsy, General Respiratory Medicine and Respiratory complications of cancer treatments, including immuno-oncology.
Professor Santis oversees one of the busiest units for Thoracic Cancers in the UK, which boasts some of the best outcomes in the country. He routinely uses cutting-edge interventional bronchoscopic techniques like Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) to diagnose and treat patients with precision. In addition to being an expert clinician, he is also an active researcher in both biomedical science and clinical studies related to lung cancer; he is Professor of Thoracic Oncology & Interventional Bronchoscopy at King's College London.
Professor Santis undertook his specialist training in Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Brompton Hospital and the National Heart and Lung Institute; he is experienced in treating both common and rare respiratory conditions. He also completed his doctoral work at the National Heart and Lung Institute, studying the molecular genetics of Cystic Fibrosis. Following this he received a Wellcome Trust Advanced Fellowship in Gene Therapy at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Transgene in France.
