Professor Daniel Sifrim attended the Buenos Aires University, Argentina where he completed his medical training in 1979. Sifrim then did his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at the Posadas General Hospital, in Buenos Aires.
Belgium was his next port of call in 1990 where he undertook specialised training in gastrointestinal motility. He was a research fellow at the Centre for Gastroenterological Research at the University Of Leuven where he obtained a PhD degree in 1994.
From 1994 - 2008, Prof Sifrim developed his clinical research and academic career in Belgium. He was appointed first Associate Professor and later full Professor of Medicine at the University of Leuven. Prof. Sifrim has recently been appointed Professor of Gastrointestinal Physiology at Bart's and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary, University of London.
His clinical interests include General Gastroenterology, Neurogastroenterology, Oesophageal disorders, gastro-oesophageal, reflux disease and functional GI disorders.
