Mr Prem Chana

I am a Consultant UGI and General Surgeon with comprehensive sub-specialist training in complex UGI surgery.

I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2008 and completed Core Surgical Training in Bristol, during which I gained an MSc in Surgical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh. I subsequently completed Higher Surgical Training in Oxford and my Doctoral Thesis at Imperial College London. I become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2019.

I then undertook tripartite sub-specialist fellowship training over three years as:

• The Senior Oesophagogastric Fellow at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne
• The RCS Senior Clinical Fellow in Oesophagogastric Cancer Surgery at St Thomas' Hospital in London
• The AUGIS Travelling Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

As well as my clinical interests in oesophagogstric surgery (both for cancer and benign conditions), I also have ongoing academic and leadership interests. I continue to contribute to surgical outcome-based research and supervise PhD research and am the Speciality Director for Theatres in my NHS Trust.
