Dr. Pouya Akhbari

Dr. Pouya Akhbari is a highly accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in upper limb and trauma surgery. With a patient-centred approach to care, he focuses on delivering precise, safe, and effective treatments for a wide range of shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist conditions. His clinical expertise encompasses complex reconstructive surgery, joint replacements, and the management of sports-related injuries.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Akhbari is particularly interested in complex upper limb trauma, shoulder arthroplasty, and soft tissue procedures. He has also established an advanced ultrasound-guided injection service, which provides targeted relief for patients suffering from conditions such as shoulder impingement, frozen shoulder, and various tendinopathies. His dedication to utilising cutting-edge techniques ensures that patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their individual recovery goals.

Dr. Akhbari completed his undergraduate medical training at King's College London, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He also holds an intercalated Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiology with Applied Medical Sciences from University College London. Committed to academic excellence, he earned a Master of Science in Trauma and Orthopaedics from the University of Brighton and a Doctor of Medicine by Research from Imperial College London, focusing on joint infections and osteoarthritis. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth). To further refine his skills, he completed several prestigious fellowships in sports medicine, trauma, and upper limb surgery across the United Kingdom and Australia.
