Mr Nigel Mortimer Day

Mr Nigel Day is a Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon who provides comprehensive care across a broad range of abdominal, intestinal, and general surgical conditions. Specialising in both minimally invasive keyhole techniques and traditional open procedures, he focuses on delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care. His surgical practice prioritises modern treatment protocols designed to optimise recovery, minimise postoperative discomfort, and achieve the best possible clinical outcomes for his patients.

His clinical expertise covers the full spectrum of General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery. Mr Day routinely diagnoses and treats conditions including abdominal wall and groin hernias, colorectal cancer, abdominal pain, and functional bowel disorders. He possesses extensive sub-specialty interest in coloproctology, offering dedicated management for conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, skin tags, and pilonidal disease. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic investigations, including colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, alongside minor surgical procedures for benign skin lesions.

Mr Day completed his undergraduate medical degree, earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Bristol in 2009. He subsequently completed higher surgical training within major clinical networks across London and Oxford, followed by a specialist fellowship in advanced pelvic surgical oncology. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) through the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018 and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (Research) MD(res) alongside the Diploma of Imperial College (DIC) from Imperial College London in 2024. He holds active professional membership with the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).
