Dr Nida Afshan

Dr Nida Afshan is a highly accomplished Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care tailored to the individual needs of each patient. With a clinical practice focused on delivering personalised and reassuring support, she specialises in benign gynaecological surgery, including both open and laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures. Dr Afshan is particularly committed to helping women manage complex menstrual disorders, heavy menstrual bleeding, fibroids, and chronic pelvic pain, ensuring that every patient receives a treatment plan suited to their unique circumstances.

In addition to general gynaecological care, Dr Afshan has undertaken advanced training in Urogynaecology and Advanced Labour Ward Practice. She has a particular clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders, such as pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Her surgical expertise spans a wide range of reconstructive and therapeutic procedures, including pelvic floor reconstructive surgery, hysteroscopic procedures in outpatient and day-case settings, and complex open abdominal surgery. Beyond her direct clinical duties, she is passionate about medical education, actively teaching medical students and junior doctors, and serving as an Educational Supervisor for postgraduate trainees.

Dr Afshan obtained her primary medical qualification, an MBBS, from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore, India, in 2002. She subsequently relocated to the United Kingdom, where she completed her comprehensive specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Wales Deanery. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, she is a member of several prestigious professional bodies, holding membership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG).
