About Mr Sanjay Chawathe
Mr Sanjay Chawathe is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician with the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, where he has practised since 2004. Based at Prince Charles Hospital in South Wales, he also serves as the clinical lead in Urogynaecology.
After graduating with an MBBS from Bombay University in 1989, he completed further specialist training, earning a DGO in 1991 and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1992. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and an active member of several professional bodies, including the British Society of Urogynaecology and the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy.
Mr Chawathe’s clinical expertise covers the full spectrum of gynaecology, with particular interests in urogynaecology, menstrual disorders, menopause, pelvic pain, and minimal access surgery. He regularly performs advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, including laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cyst removal, endometriosis surgery, and vaginal prolapse repair. His practice also encompasses a wide range of conservative and surgical treatments tailored to individual patient needs, from Mirena coil insertion to urinary incontinence surgery.
With a career dedicated to improving women’s health, Mr Chawathe combines specialist knowledge with patient-centred care, offering both innovative and traditional treatments to achieve the best outcomes.
