Miss Sally Ameen

Ms Sally Ameen specialises in glaucoma and cataract surgery. She is skilled in many glaucoma procedures, namely MIGS (including istent), filtration surgery and laser therapy for glaucoma like Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT). 

Amongst other roles, Ms Ameen is the Quality and Safety Lead at the Western Eye hospital. The role displays her commitment to ensure she is always at the forefront of best practice medicine. Her passion for education continued into her consultant post, where she is a college tutor guiding more than 20 trainees. She is also the Secretary for the Ophthalmic division of the Royal Society of medicine and is continually involved in both chairing and organising educational events. 

She has presented her work at a number of meetings, written 2 book chapters and published in peer reviewed journals. She continues to be actively involved in research both within her hospital and in larger national trials. 

When it comes to patient medical care, she enjoys having ongoing involvement in the lives of her patients as she takes them on a journey - which she credits as one of the reasons why she finds her job so rewarding.
