He treats complex prostate cancer using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), Nano Knife, and focal cryotherapy, which lead to successful patient outcomes. Mr Nigam performs circumcisions and TURP operations. Patients value his expertise in prostate cancer and his skill with HIFU procedures.
Dr. Nigam was a delight to deal with from day one. I arrived to him after getting the bad news of having prostate cancer. Where other doctors in Canada failed by giving us assurance of treatment and only suggested worst case scenario, Dr. Nigam excelled. He was a ray of light that offered hope, professional opinion and guidance through the process from beginning to end. For all you men out there who get the ominous news of prostate cancer, and where your other doctors only suggested prostatectomy, do not feel like this is it - there are options! And Dr. NIgam would be the one to trust with it!
We cannot thank Mr Nigam enough for the outstanding care he provided to our 16-year-old son during his circumcision. From our very first consultation, he was kind, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly, putting both our son and myself completely at ease. The procedure itself went smoothly, and the care we received throughout was exceptional. Mr Nigam and his team were compassionate, respectful, and made what could have been a stressful experience feel much more manageable. Our son's recovery has been excellent, and we are extremely pleased with the outcome. We felt supported every step of the way and always had confidence that he was receiving the very best care. We would highly recommend Mr Nigam to any family considering this procedure.
Mr Nigam is calm and reassuring in what is a stressful time for the patient. He is clearly highly experienced, nevertheless can explain medical conditions and procedures in a manner that is easy to understand He knows which treatment is the best for individual patients, I had HiFu, which four years later is still successful.
The operation went very smoothly with minimal discomfort and recovery was remarkably quick and free of side effects. I walked a gentle 2 miles the morning after treatment and after catheter removal 6 days after the op I was pretty much back to normal.
A very professional consultant who take time to carefully explain the possible treatments, procedures and outcomes. Mr Nigam is very thorough, very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I have been very pleased with the treatment I received and very happy to recommend him to other patients.
On June 3rd 1953 I was a 12 year old chorister of St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle and was privileged to sing at the Coronation of HM Elizabeth 2nd. Singing has been the mainspring of my life for 75 years - and remains so. Then came Prostate Cancer and Hormone and Radiotherapy. I owe the NHS gratitude for the treatment I received which is ongoing two years later. My treatment affected my singing and speaking voice. The NHS couldn’t help but I discovered the team at the Mount Alvernia Hospital who had special expertise. Firstly I met Dr C. Micropoulos who passed me to Mr Raj Nigam. Through their specialist knowledge, commitment and treatment to me I have been able to resume my musical career. My debt to them is incalculable.
Dr Nigam is a fantastic clinician. He performed a medically necessary circumcision on my 9 year old autistic son. It was my son’s first experience of being in a hospital and of having surgery. Dr Nigam was so calm, reassuring and clear in his explanations. He prioritised speaking to my son directly, rather than just myself as the parent, which really helped my son to feel safe in his care. When I had questions during the post operative period, they were answered very promptly and thoroughly. My son recovered well, and I could not be more grateful to Dr Nigam for his expertise
I have seen Mr Nigam for the last three years after an initial NHS Gleason 7(3+4) diagnosis. He was able to contextualise the problem in a very clear way and after three years of surveillance and (MRI and biopsy) I am still in stable position with now visible disease. Had I not been under his care my treatment would have been significantly more aggressive. The reassurance from a world class expert was life changing. Thank you. I would strongly recommend anyone struggling to understand the options and pathways for a prostate cancer diagnosis to contact Mr Nigam at the Focal Clinic.
My overall experience was very positive. Mr Nigam is a very friendly approachable person. His bedside manner is very calming and he explained my condition, treatment options and answered all my questions clearly and concisely. He successfully performed a HIFU treatment in 2024 but unfortunately a further tumor appeared on the other side of my prostrate at the end of 2025. For this Mr Nigham recommended Nano Knife. As before his professionalism and care was exempory and again the treatment has been successful with an almost immediate recovery period and no pain, or side effects at all. Mr Nigam is extremely professional and is clearly an experienced and highly skilled consultant and I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to put themselves under his care. My deep thanks again to Mr Nigham and his excellent EA Jessica.
The procedure was straight forward it was explained very clear and I was made to feel at ease all the way through. The few days of discomfort afterward was nothing to worry about. The constant contact via email or phone calls were very reassuring.
Raj and I work together in the Focal Therapy Clinic Multidisciplinary team. He is a clinician with great insight in to the potential harms of prostate cancer treatment as he combines his role in prostate cancer diagnostics and ablation with a specialist interest in andrology. Raj has worked to reduce such harms through becoming a skilled prostate focal ablation practitioner and he bears a wealth of experience and an approach that tends to the individual needs of men.

Mr Marc Laniado
UrologistI would like to encourage any patient looking for an experienced and patient centred approach to go and see Raj. He has been an enthusiast of focal HIFU and cryotherapy for many many years. His understanding of the need for a low morbidity treatment for early prostate cancer was way ahead of his time. Only recently, have I come to share his view, that precision diagnostics allow precision treatments with lower morbidity. Thank you Raj for being a leading light.
