About Mr Mark Farndon
Mr Mark Farndon is a Consultant specialising in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery and is currently working for the NHS at Harrogate District Hospital.
Mr Farndon qualified from the University of Newcastle with a Distinction in 1998, before moving to Yorkshire in 2000 and then to Leeds and Bradford where he undertook his basic surgical training. He was then awarded an MRCS(Eng) and moved onto higher surgical training. He completed 6 years of specialist training in orthopaedic surgery and a further 18 months training in foot and ankle surgery with fellowship-trained consultants. Furthermore, he completed and was awarded his FRCS(Tr & Orth) in 2007 and then developed a more specialist interest in arthroscopic knee surgery and knee arthroplasty during a 6-month fellowship.
He focuses on all aspects of foot and ankle conditions, including complex primary and revision surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery and knee replacement surgery (partial, total and robotic). He also treats foot deformities, arthrodesis of the foot and sports injuries. He is regularly involved in research and also presents lectures to students on foot and ankle conditions. He has also written many publications and has presented his research both nationally and internationally.

Paediatric Consultation: our experience with Mr Farndon has been excellent. The process from initial consultation, MRI and follow up have been smooth, efficient and reassuring. He explained what the findings meant, to both myself and my child and gave an opportunity for my child to ask questions. A special shout out to Mr Farndon’s medical secretary, who kept us up to at every stage, coordinating appointments, for minimal delay.
I have now seen Mr Farndon both at the NHS hospital Harrogate and also privately at the Duchy hospital. On both occasions he was very reassuring and informative in his diagnosis. Both my ankles have been replaced and Mr Farndon is now instrumental in continuing to rectifying some ongoing problems. I have every confidence these problems will be resolved by him.
I would highly recommend Mark; he listens attentively and offered pragmatic, helpful advice on the pros and cons of undertaking my surgical procedure. The operation was arranged quickly, follow up was efficient, and I am very pleased with the outcome.
From start to finish I felt I was in very good hands. Mr Farndon is very professional, caring and knowledgeable. He and his wider team took great care of me. The operation to repair a very painful plantar plate tear and carry out an osteotomy were successful. Whilst I am still recovering, the improvement is significant. I would have no hesitation recommending Mark Farndon and his team.
Mark Farndon was very knowledgeable. From the first consultation assessing my knee issue, scans were arranged quickly. During the second consultation, the scan results were explained to me throughly with all my questions and concerns answered in detail. Remedial steps have since been put in place. Would highly recommend.
Mr Farndon is very clear in his explanations and patiently answers lots of questions.
