    About

Mr Alistair Jepson is a highly trained and skilled consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Northamptonshire and London. As a specialist in upper limb surgery, he provides professional and personalised surgical care for shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist conditions.

He is extensively trained in shoulder arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) for rotator cuff tendon repairs and stabilisations for instability, as well as treatment for frozen shoulder and shoulder replacement. However, as an upper limb specialist, he offers a full range of treatments affecting the entire upper body, from collar bone to fingertip. This includes the treatment of carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve releases. Furthermore, he is an expert in the treatment of sports injuries. In fact, he regularly treats local professional sportsmen and women from the fields of rugby, football and cricket.

Mr Jepson graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1994. After this, he trained in and around London, with his orthopaedic specialist training taking place within the North West Thames region. He was awarded specialist accreditation in 2004 and then pursued his interest in upper limb surgery with two fellowships: the first being an upper limb fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia (one of the largest and busiest upper limb units in the country) and the second being a hand fellowship back in the UK at the Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby.

His work is dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes for patients in both the public and private health sectors. What's more, his confident diagnostic skills are matched by his surgical expertise and meticulous explanations at every step of any procedure. Private patients can access his first-class care at the BMI Three Shires Hospital in Northampton, thje Ramsay Woodland Hospital in Kettering, and, by arrangement, at the Orthopaedic Specialists (OS) clinic in Central London.

Mr. Jepson was friendly ,respectful and understanding as he examined my painful shoulder . He then explained very well the problem and recommended treatment. He also provided me with written sheets of what he had described to read at home which is so very helpful as it is not easy to remember everything. He made a referral for treatment which started a week later

I had right shoulder arthroscopic HAGL and labral repairs. Overall the treatment went very well. I found Mr Jepson to be very thorough and clear and 9 months on my shoulder is almost as good as new. I am back doing activities such as rock-climbing without any repercussions. The initial recovery from surgery (first 2 months or so) was far more difficult than I expected; however, this is more a reflection of my expectations than those set by Mr Jepson.

I really appreciate your feedback and that my explanations were helpful.

    Explanation (5/5)
Mr Jepson is a personable surgeon and clearly very experienced in his field. He identifed the long term issue with my elbow straight away. He was clear in his explanation of the tennis elbow and there was no hesitation in his diagnosis. He was straight to the point on what action was required. His recommendations were given as the best two options to suit my situation and I had the ultimate decision of which treatment to proceed with. Everything was straightforward to arrange and treatment happened quickly from first appointment to surgery to discharge. I now have movement back in my elbow, reduced pain and I am able to do daily tasks and my job! There is some way to go to full recovery, regaining strength and eliminating pain but Mr Jepson confidently reassured me that I was on track with my recovery making good progress. I thought recovery would be quicker but accept that everyone is different and in hindsight I still would have proceeded with the surgery as I have got my life back after over a year of previous failed treatments, pain killers and not being able to use my arm! Thank you!

"Alistair Jepson is a consultant colleague of mine, who has an excellent reputation amongst his other colleagues. He has recently treated a family member with a broken bone in the hand. We were treated very kindly and efficiently by him. Everything was explained to us prior to the procedure and we were kept informed at every step of the way until the problem was fully resolved. I would recommend Mr Jepson for your care."
