I was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in Northampton in 2005. I completed my medical training in London in 1992, and went on to gain specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic accreditation in 2003 after completing my Higher Surgical Training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. Further subspecialist Fellowship experience in hip and knee surgery was undertaken in Sydney, Australia in 2004.
I am a specialist in hip and knee replacement surgery and have a special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee in sports injury, including ACL reconstruction and cartilage repair techniques. In addition, I also manage all general orthopaedic trauma, including the acute treatment of upper and lower limb fractures and soft tissue injuries.
I am committed to ensuring the highest quality of care for all of my patients, both in the NHS and private sectors. I deal with every case on an individual and personal basis, allowing time to fully discuss conditions and their treatments before recommending any course of action. All patients undergoing surgery are assured of at least two outpatient appointments prior to their surgery, to ensure all their needs are met and questions are answered.
Over the past decade, my patients have been enrolled in an internet-based outcome scoring system to allow long term follow up after their surgery and ensure that any concerns can be addressed. I love to hear how my patients are doing after their surgery – often a postcard from far-flung places which they never thought they would be able to visit, or that they have managed to return to their favourite sport following injury.
Having an operation can be a daunting prospect. I assure all of my patients that they will be receiving the very highest standard of care. This includes the application of the most modern anaesthetic and surgical techniques, which deliver the most rapid return to fitness and improved health by a combination of proven interventions including optimal pain medication and rehabilitation protocols. I will only use surgical implants with proven excellent long-term results. In knee ligament surgery, I have adopted a low-morbidity technique for reconstruction using a single hamstring tendon graft, allowing a more rapid post-operative recovery and better knee function than conventional techniques.
Most importantly, I am honest in my approach. If the current scientific evidence is that a patient’s particular condition cannot be helped by surgery, I will advise accordingly.

Mr Jason Auld receives praise for his clear explanations and friendly manner during consultations. Patients report positive outcomes from procedures such as hip and knee replacement. He is thorough in examinations and ensures patients feel at ease before surgery. Most often, patients consult Mr Auld for knee or hip arthritis, knee pain, and joint replacement procedures.
I had been under Mr Auld before so I had every confidence in the outcome of my knee replacement surgery. Mr Auld explained the procedure in language that I could easily understand and was treated in a professional and kind manner. He was more than happy to answer all the questions I had.
Mr Auld was informative and provided me with a complete understanding of my condition and the options available to me.
Mr Auld was clear and concise in his diagnosis and I felt comfortable in his presense
Very professional good explanations and information not at all intimidating but friendly thrilled. With the outcome thank you
Jason is very nice and perfectly knowledgeable. The only feedback I would have is overall, and this is also inclusive for other consultants, it would be great to discuss the root cause of the issue. We only focused on the immediate fix. Looking deeper into the root cause is a missing factor from a lot of consultants appointments and perspectives. For my issue as an example, yes my knee has lost a lot of cartilage but why? I would have liked for Jason to have pressed into that more. Or at least really stress to me to go away and look into this a lot further, possibly with his assistance.
I had a hip replacement 6 weeks ago. My experience from first meeting Mr Auld to final appointment was first class. My hip replacement was straight forward and the scar is already disappearing. Thank you Mr Auld

Thank you for your very generous comments - I am delighted your surgery has been a great success. Now enjoy the summer ahead, free of that awful pain! Very best wishes, Jason Auld
