Mr Wing Chan

Mr. Wing Chan is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with over 25 years of practice in the field. Since 1995, he has been working at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital and took up his consultancy role in 2005 after completing a one-year fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery at the Sydney Eye Hospital from 2004 to 2005. For the past 10 years, Mr. Chan has been consulting at the Cathedral Eye Clinic.

His expertise spans a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and surgeries, including cataract surgery, multifocal lens implants, YAG laser, retinal detachment management, vitreoretinal disorders, macular holes, clear lens extraction, intravitreal injections, and macular degeneration. He is particularly skilled in vitreoretinal surgery and lens replacement surgery.

Mr. Chan is also a prolific researcher with numerous publications on topics such as diabetic retinopathy in pregnancy, age-related macular degeneration, serious ocular and adnexal injuries, YAG posterior capsulotomy, and retinal tear management. His work has been presented globally at numerous conferences, and he continues to teach, while contributing to ongoing auditing, clinical, and lab research projects.

After graduating from Queen’s University of Belfast in 1995, Mr. Chan completed his Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, in 2004. His contributions to the field and his dedication to patient care have earned him a reputation as one of the leading experts in his field.
