About Mr Vasileios Trompetas

Mr Vas Trompetas is a Consultant General Surgeon practicing at University Hospital Southampton since 2013 as a founding member of the acute surgery unit (ASU). Currently he leads the team, looking after patients admitted with general surgical emergencies. He regularly holds clinics and theatre lists in general surgery (hernia surgery and gallbladder surgery) and proctology (haemorrhoids, fissure, fistula) as well as endoscopy lists (colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy). He mirrors his practice at Spire Southampton Hospital where he also runs a minor ops service for bumps and lumps.

Mr Trompetas studied medicine in Athens, subsequently training in General Surgery. He moved to the UK in 2004 where he received further training at London University Hospitals (St George's Hospital and Croydon University Hospital) and at Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital, becoming a consultant in Eastbourne in 2010.

Mr Trompetas remains commited outside his clinical work, devoting time to his position as FRCS examiner of the trainee surgeons before they become consultants. He is also an appraiser of other consultant surgeons and an educational supervisor of surgical trainees and medical students.
