Exceptional orthopaedic consultant – I cannot recommend him highly enough I cannot recommend Mr Richards highly enough. From the moment we met him, he has been absolutely exceptional in his care of my son. As a parent, having your child under the care of an orthopaedic consultant can be incredibly worrying, but Mr Richards immediately put both my son and me at ease. He is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but what really stands out is his genuine compassion and the way he communicates with both children and parents. He takes the time to listen properly, never makes you feel rushed and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. He has always taken our concerns seriously and has made sure that we understand the reasoning behind investigations, treatment options and the next steps in my sons care. What I particularly admire is the way he speaks directly to my son and involves him in conversations about his own treatment. He doesn't simply speak over him because he is a child. He makes him feel heard, respected and involved, which I think is incredibly important. Mr Richards has given us confidence and reassurance at a time when we have needed it most. His knowledge as an orthopaedic consultant is clearly outstanding, but it is his bedside manner, patience and genuine care for his patients that make him truly exceptional. You can tell that he takes great pride in what he does and, more importantly, that he genuinely cares about getting the best possible outcome for the children he treats.
