Mr Antony Raymond

Mr Antony Raymond is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon with specialist expertise in conditions affecting the hip and knee. His clinical interests include; joint replacement, sports injury treatment, keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery, and advanced hip preservation techniques.

Mr Raymond received his medical training in the UK before completing internationally recognised specialist fellowships in Australia and the USA. His experience includes working at several world-renowned centres of excellence. These include The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where he focused on complex joint replacemen and the Royal London Hospital, one of the UK’s leading major trauma centres.

Awarded the prestigious Orthopaedic Trauma Association Fellowship, Mr Raymond travelled to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas — the busiest trauma centre in the United States — where he gained in-depth experience managing musculoskeletal injuries.

He went on to undertake a dedicated hip surgery fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Building on this, he earned a competitive placement on the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship under Dr Peter D’Alessandro, where his focus included minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures for the hip and knee, alongside complex multi-ligament knee reconstructions. He further enhanced his expertise in hip resurfacing and complex revision hip replacement surgery while on the Fremantle Arthroplasty Fellowship in Western Australia.

With a strong personal interest in sports, Mr Raymond is particularly skilled in managing soft tissue and ligament injuries around the hip and knee. His expertise includes tendon reconstructions, meniscal repair, and procedures for hamstring and quadriceps injuries. He also has substantial experience treating arthritis of the hip using both traditional and robotic-assisted joint replacement techniques.

Mr Raymond is actively involved in lower limb trauma care and is at the forefront of modern surgical practices, including leading efforts to implement same-day discharge (day-case) joint replacement surgery within his hospital.

A passionate educator, Mr Raymond has a proven track record in surgical teaching and regularly contributes to training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.

Outside his clinical practice, Antony leads an active lifestyle and enjoys playing rugby and tennis. He also participates in kitesurfing, surfing, and yoga – activities that align with his commitment to maintaining fitness and joint health.
