About Mr Shailesh Agrawal
Shailesh Agrawal has over 30 years of experience in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgery; in the course of training and as a Consultant, within the NHS and
Private sector. He has a focus on
Ear, Hearing and Imbalance issues, having visited overseas experts in Antwerp and Copenhagen, and with a specialist fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons which involved advanced surgical training.
He is able to offer consultations for private patients both insured and self funding at Oaklands Hospital in Salford and Highfield Hospital in Rochdale. His clinical interests span all areas of ENT, including nasal
blockage, polyps, rhinitis, sinusitis, sore throats, tonsillitis. He has extensive experience in seeing patients with ongoing problems with unexplained
ear pain, ear ache, ear discharge, dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss. He is
skilled in ear related advanced procedures such as mastoid surgery, stapedotomy, and bone anchored hearing aids for hearing loss.
He otherwise works as an NHS Consultant within the Northern Care Alliance seeing patients from across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford areas. He has extensive experience in hospital management and has served as Clinical Director of ENT, and Divsional Surgical Director. These have been key roles involving development of services and ensuring high standards of care are delivered. In addition to his clinical and managerial practice, he contributes to research where possible, and maintains an interest in education. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University and continues to teach and train our next generation of ENT doctors in the North West area.
Known for his friendly and relaxed manner, Shailesh ensures
consultations are thorough; giving patients time to describe and then
understand their own problems. He is patient focused and ensures everything is
explained is easily understandable words and language. All patients receive
copies of the same letters posted to their GP's.

I went to see Mr Agrawal following a few episodes of BPPV and not feeling 100% following the vertigo. Mr Agrawal was very attentive, thorough and reassuring.
Shailesh is a really good consultant. He was kind and upfront about my need for surgery, risks of not opting to consent and potential side-effects of surgery. Follow up care has been outstanding and even when he's been obviously stressed with the volume if patients he's needed to consult, he's always taken the time to ask if I have questions.
I was looked after well and everything was explained thoroughly. The procedure seems to have been a great success at this point, but I’ve been advised a few more weeks of healing and there will be further improvements, which is welcome news. Breathing through my left nostril is so much better, and I’ve had no complications post surgery.
Mr Agrawal patiently explained everything and set apart enough time to listen and to consider various hypotheses. This is how all consultations should be like. I really appreciated his care and the time he dedicated to me.
Mr Agrawal was very attentive, listened carefully and took his time to explain and reassure. Was keen for me to realise my expectations in terms of the outcome of the consultation and he did that 100%. Nothing was hurried and his professionalism is the best I have ever experienced in healthcare, and I have seen many people with both my elderly mother and two children. Thank you

After explaining to Mr Agrawal about my breathing problems (nose always blocked) who understood and talked me through the procedure I was having done in detail. After the operation the result is amazing being able to breathe through both nostrils. Mr Agrawal is very thorough and informative every step of the journey. Would well recommend.
