Mr Seyed Ashgar Ali working as a Specialist Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Consultant at the University Hospital Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth Hospitals) since 2003 (Initially Locum Consultant and subsequently substantive Consultant). Being a major teaching and referral hospital, it receives tertiary referrals from many other hospitals from the region.

He provides highest quality foot & ankle service in his chosen elective sub-speciality area. He has extensive experience in dealing with all foot ankle conditions including bunion surgery, ankle arthroscopies, sports injuries, achillis tendon problems, plantar fascitis, heel pain, fractures of calcaneum and mid & hindfoot injuries.

He also offers minimally invasive surgery in lesser toe conditions and osteotomy of calcaneum.

He has a keen interest in total ankle replacement and has undergone specialist training in Liestal, Switzerland. He has also undertaken advanced training in ankle arthroscopy at the Amsterdam Medical Centre Hospital in Amsterdam, a world renowned Sports Injury Centre. He visited various centres of excellence in Foot & Ankle Surgery around the globe and gained valuable experience in the speciality.

He is actively involved in the teaching and training of junior doctors as part of the West Midlands Post-Graduate Orthopaedic Training Scheme. He has published articles in International Journals and presented papers at numerous National & International conferences.

Qualifications

Mr Seyed Ashgar Ali obtained his MBBS and Basic Orthopaedic training in India. After moving to UK, he underwent further extensive training in General orthopaedics, Trauma and Foot & Ankle surgery. He succesfully completed his FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in the year 2000 and have obtained an addition qualification MCh Orth from the University of Liverpool in the year 1999.

Mr Seyed Ashgar Ali is one of the senior Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon in the region, providing the service for nearly 15 years. He has broad experience in dealing with almost all Foot & Ankle conditions and trained several trainees in the speciality. He is a GMC accredited trainer and actively engaged in teaching and training. He is also interested in research and made active contribution to several projects in the speciality.
