Excellent experience overall…..very experienced and practical surgeon who was attentive and involved in my care while in hospital and immediately afterwards.

Mr Casula was clear and decisive when he explained the surgery I required and how it would be done. For someone who has not had any surgery before, his easy explanation and friendly manner put me at my ease and I felt I could trust him completely.He knew what he was doing and he was a professional.

Thankfully there are not many times that you put one’s life into someone else’s hands that you have never met before, but this was going to be one those occasions for me. I needed to have a Mitral Valve repair and also a single bypass (LIMA). I was recommended to Mr Casula to have this done. It was a daunting prospect. I knew I had to have a Mitral Valve repair but Mr Casula wanted to check everything else out before he went ahead with the valve repair, which looking back was very sensible, if you’re going to get heart surgery lets make sure you only have to do this once. I then found out that I also needed a single bypass (LIMA) as well as the valve repair. Mr Casula is quietly spoken, very pleasant and confident. He had so much experience of doing these types of operations and I subsequently found out that everyone in the hospital seemed to know him and rated him very very highly. He explained what I needed doing in some detail, not that I wanted to know but in retrospect, I do think this was a good idea as you do need to know what to expect. The surgery went very well, and Mr Casula came to see me a few times after the operation which was very much appreciated. I was in hospital for 1 week but was on my feet and mobile within that time. If any friend or family needed heart surgery, I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Casula.

Excellent surgeon, saved my life, had a difficult 5 hour double heart bypass operation, great problems attaching veins from my leg, had complications but he managed to somehow overcome them. Now two months later I am running outdoors. Very caring and approachable surgeon.

Mr Casula explained everything very clearly and calmly so that I went into what was fairly daunting surgery reassured and confident of the outcome.
