Robert Gleeson is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust. He is a knee specialist with a keen interest in sports injuries.
Mr Gleeson trained at University College London Medical School gaining a BSc in Anatomy and qualifying as a doctor in 1994. After completing initial specialist training in London, he undertook a knee fellowship in Australia focused on ACL reconstruction and soft-tissue knee surgery.
Mr. Gleeson is co-founder of both the Gloucestershire Knee clinic where he specialises in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee. He is particularly experienced in surgery for knee instability, patellofemoral dysfunction, malalignment and knee arthritis. He has been at the forefront of pushing Robotic assisted total knee replacement in the county. This fantastic new innovation allows him to perform TKR with incredible accuracy and to personalize each procedure to the patients own specific anatomy.
Mr Gleeson enjoys various teaching posts and is actively involved in supervising trainee knee surgeons at GRH.

Mr. Gleeson gave precise information regarding knee. I have sarcoidosis and he eased my worries regarding the operation. I had a good and speedy recovery.

Never had operation before Mr Gleeson and team put me at my ease never felt or heard anything before l knew it l woke up and all over. Had no trouble with recovery and would really like to thank everyone for making my first op a good experience.

Mr Gleeson, has always explained all procedures very clearly and simply. My right knee especially needed very complicated surgery, and I am very pleased with the results. Can’t thank him enough for the two operations he has done for me.

Mr. Gleeson explained everythimg in detail, including what could go wrong. I am pleased to say that it didn't, and my total knee replacements have both gone very well. I now walk normally and am pain free.

Mr Gleeson carefully explained my options in terms of alternative procedures (or none) and the pros and cons of each. Following our discussion I opted for a partial knee replacement. Mr Gleeson and his team took excellent care of me before, during and after my procedure and I am very pleased with the result.

Very clear diagnosis and explanation of the problem and solution. He was very open and honest in respect of the surgery and after care including the physiotherapy required and exercises. He showed care and concern throughout.
