Mr Charles Hall

Mr Charlie Hall is a highly experienced ear, nose & throat surgeon with over 20 years working in the specialty. He can provide a specialist service in all aspects of general ENT. His areas of special interest include:

• Neck lumps including the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid nodules
• Thyroid problems including surgery for thyrotoxicosis
• Voice problems including laser therapy for vocal cord lesions and the treatment of voice box cancers
• Swallowing disorders and throat symptoms
• Skin cancer treatment
• Nose and sinus-related conditions including, nasal polyps, epistaxis (nose bleeds), and nasal trauma

Mr. Hall completed his medical degree in 1995 from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. He went on to complete his basic surgical training in Bristol and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2000. He acquired 18 months experience in head & neck cancer care at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. In 2002, he moved to the South West to complete a further six years of specialist training in Ear, Nose, and Throat surgery across the region.

In 2008, Mr Hall attended a one-year surgical fellowship at the Western Hospital and Peter Macallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. There, he acquired specialist skills in head and neck, thyroid, and skin cancer surgery and developed his intrest in the evaluation and management of voice and swallowing disorders. In 2011 he attended a one-week observership with Professor Steven Zeitels at the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation in Boston, USA.

He returned to the UK in 2009 to take up a consultant post in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust. During this time held worked in educational leadership roles at local, regional and national level. He has recently been appointed Vice-Chair of the Specialist Advisory Committee for ENT at the Royal College of Surgeons. He held the post of Clinical Lead for ENT in Gloucestershire between 2018 and 2021.

Throughout Mr Hall's career, he has always remained up-to-date with the latest surgical innovations via courses, conferences and clinical visits. Mr Hall also belongs to the Head and Neck Three Counties Cancer Network for Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire which he chaired from 2011-2018.

He has mentored for publications on a variety of ENT topics and is an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Laryngology and Otology. He also holds the position of Honorary Secretary for the South Western Laryngological Association and is an active participant in clinical research and audits.
