Mr Philip Harries is a consultant otorhinolaryngologist (ENT surgeon) and sub-specialist rhinologist working exclusively in the private sector at Spire Southampton Hospital. He focuses on rhinology and facial plastic ENT, including advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, septorhinoplasty and the management of chronic rhinosinusitis, alongside general adult and paediatric ENT.
His practice covers minimally invasive endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) for inflammatory and complex sinus disease, endoscopic repair of septal perforations and endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy for epiphora. He regularly performs functional and aesthetic septorhinoplasty via open and closed approaches, as well as pinnaplasty, and provides a full general ENT service. He also undertakes nasal reconstruction following trauma or tumour resection and has interests in snoring surgery and paediatric rhinology.
He previously served for 24 years as Consultant ENT Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton, where he was Clinical Lead for ENT, and he has chaired the Medical Advisory Committee at Spire Southampton Hospital. His training included the South Coast ENT registrar rotation, a clinical ENT fellowship year in Cape Town and further rhinology fellowships in Europe and the USA. He was awarded the Gold Medal as the outstanding candidate in the Part III FRCS (ORL-HNS) examination in 1999 and continues to publish widely in rhinology.
